Mounties Shine Light on Serious Matter

EOU will match all donations up to $500.00 dollars.

LA GRANDE, Ore. - The Eastern Oregon University softball team will finish up there home-stand this weekend with games on Friday, Saturday and Sunday on Peggy Anderson Field. The weekend will feature senior day on Saturday against Corban and the 2009 season home finale on Sunday against Walla Walla University.

Friday when the Mounties face off against Concordia University the Mountaineer players and coaching staff will be wearing teal EOU Softball t-shirts to bring awareness to sexual assault.

On Wednesday, April 8th President Barack Obama declared April Sexual Assault Awareness month and the EOU softball team is doing there part to bring light to the issue. President Obama stated, "Sexual Assault scars the lives of millions in the United States. To increase awareness about this issue, prevent future crimes, and aid victims, this month we mark National Sexual Assault Awareness Month."

Along with the teal theme the Mountaineer softball team will be accepting donations for Shelter from the Storm. Head Coach Missy Wheeler and the EOU softball team have also vowed to match any donations up to $500.00 dollars.

Friday's double header against the Cavaliers is set to begin at 2:00 pm. Saturday, Eastern hosts Corban College at 11:00 am with the senior day festivities taking place between the first and second games. And Sunday EOU will play their final home games against the Walla Walla beginning at 1:00 pm.
