Mountaineers predicted to finish seventh by conference coaches

PORTLAND, Ore. -- The Eastern Oregon University softball team was picked seventh in the Cascade Collegiate Conference preseason poll Tuesday.
The Mountaineers finished the 2009 season 13-29 overall and 5-19 in conference play. EOU ended last year in seventh place. Eastern returns four starters from last year's team.
The College of Idaho was selected as the preseason favorite. The Yotes finished 34-18 and won the conference title last season. C of I also made their second straight trip to the NAIA World Series. College of Idaho collected all of the first-place votes in this year's coaches poll and were ranked No. 15 in the preseason NAIA Top 25.
Southern Oregon and Concordia each received votes in the national poll, and were listed as the second and third place teams in the CCC preseason poll.
Eastern Oregon begins its 2010 campaign Feb. 27 at George Fox University in Newberg, Ore. The Mountaineers first home game is March 6, against North Idaho College.
