Mountaineers Fall Short of Upset Over Southern Oregon

No. 15 Raiders slip away from Eastern Oregon in four games

ASHLAND, Ore. -- The Mountaineers fell to No. 15 Southern Oregon tonight in four games.

After losing the first two games, 21-25, 23-25, EOU was able to bounce back winning the third game, 26-24, before falling again in the fourth, 24-26.

"We just did not play to win tonight," Eastern head coach Kaki Morehead said. "In the end that came back to hurt us."

Eastern was led by senior Haley McEnroe with 15 kills, Jessica Lea's 12 kills and 27 assists, Chelsea Herron's 28 assists, and Kaitlyn Duncan with 24 digs.

Chelsea Hartmen led Southern with 11 kills, Caryn Westrick's 22 assists, and Becky Jorgensen with 28 digs.

The Mountaineers after this weekend are sitting at 7-4 in Cascade Conference play 9-7 overall.

Eastern will return home next weekend for homecoming against Northwest Christian University and Corban College, both game times are set for 7 p.m. In their first meeting the Mountaineers beat Northwest Christian, 25-16, 25-14, 29-27 and Corban 25-21, 25-14, 25-18.
