Katee in the City: Day Five

EOU plays hard but falls short in first round...

March 11, 2010
11:50 p.m.

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – I seriously don't know where the day went, but now that I have finally made my way back to my room I am exhausted. I am not lying when I say it was a day full of basketball and food.

After our meeting at 11 decided to get dressed and head to the gym. After getting the chance to watch a couple of games, we headed to the Pita Pit for lunch and topped it off with some Cold Stone. Then back to the gym for more basketball.

In the mean time I along with Coach and Tiffanie drove around trying to find the right computer cord in order to hook a computer up to the TV, need less to say we got to see parts of Sioux City we would have never seen and ended up with no cord… Since that crossed our first option of sitting in a suite at the gym and watching the game, we then invaded the player hospitality room. Let me tell you under normal circumstances we would not be allowed in this room! We were able to pull it up on three different computers and gather round; for the most part it worked out quite well. The only problem being that each was a little faster/slower then the others and at the end out screen went black and we were left not getting to see the last six seconds and celebration as our men were able to pull off the win against Davenport.

Congrats to the men's as they advanced today into the Sweet 16 against Indiana Wesleyan University. The game will tip off at 3:45 p.m. PT. A live viewing will again be available for fans at Quinn in room 127, as well as Benchwarmers. Fans can follow the action at home by going to www.watchNAIA.com, live stats will also be made available.

After the game it was then more food. For dinner tonight the team along with all of the parents went to Famous Dave and I think everyone would agree when I say that it was a lot of food, but oh so good! I along with a couple others decided to go with the All-American platter which was served in a trash can lid and consisted of: ribs, one full chicken, pork, corn, muffins, potato wedges, beans, and coleslaw. If you haven't already guessed, we will continue to eat this meal for the next two days! And a big thanks to the EOU Boosters as the picked up the tab.

Next back to the gym for the last game of the night, College of Idaho vs. Cardinal Stritch. The team was able to overcome the school rivalry and did a nice job cheering on C of I. Yet they too fell short and ended there season.

After making our way back to the hotel and hanging a short time with the girls at the pool I am ready bed as we have another busy day tomorrow.

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Dang it… Can't say it was the way many of us wanted the season to end last night but one thing I must say is that the girls played hard. After being down double digits the team was able to rally back and cut it to with in five, yet Black Hills State always had an answer.

For a few girls this was there last game, and you will truly be missed as you have given EOU some great memories. For those that return, we look forward to next year in hopes of another trip to the tournament.

EOU Women, you had a great season and nothing to be ashamed about. You finished one of the top 32 teams in NAIA Division II out of 148, and many of them sit at home wishing they were here in your shoes, getting the chance to put that jersey on one last time.

As we begin the day the team will meet at 11 to decide what they would like to do. A couple of things that will be on the itinerary are, watching the EOU Men take on Davenport at 4 p.m. and then attending The College of Idaho women's game, the first seed out of the Cascade Conference, as they take on Cardinal Stritch at 8:45 p.m.

Like the women's game yesterday for those of you interested in watching the men today, a live showing will be held 2 p.m. PT in Quinn and again at Benchwarmers. Good Luck EOU Men – Hope you play well!

I will continue to blog as we finish out the last couple of days here in Sioux City and then make out way back to La Grande. Like I mentioned before this is my first blogging experience, but I have enjoyed it and hope those of you reading it have too. Well I am off to start my day as there are still many great games of basketball left to watch and enjoy!

Oh and my lovely card reader for the camera broke on me, so please bare with me. I'm going to try and get a new one so I can get some more pictures up!
