HERMISTON, Ore. – (Decathlon Day 1/Heptathlon Day 1)The Eastern Oregon University Track and Field team had a successful day at the first day of the Cascade Collegiate Conference Multi-Event Championships presented by US Bank.
Ryan Rosenau sits in first, while
Max Fahlgren is in eighth in the Decathlon.
Ashanna Hodge sits in second place in the Heptathlon.
Rosenau won four of the five events on the first day of the championships, collecting 3,581 points, in his first decathlon since 2013. In the 100 meter dash, Rosenau ran a time of 11.09 to claim the victory, earning 841 points. The 11.09 was a personal best in the 100 meter dash for Rosenau.
In the second event of the day, Rosenau recorded his second personal best, and second victory of the day, in the long jump by jumping 6.86 meters (22-6 ¼). He also claimed a personal best in the high jump as he cleared 1.96 meters (6-5), to win the event. Rosenau's last event win came in the 400 meter run as he clocked a time of 51.82.
Fahlgren, who is competing in his first decathlon, currently sits in eighth place with 2,565 points. Fahlgren claimed a third place finish in the shot put, recording a throw of 9.76 meters (32-0 ¼). He ran a time of 12.08 in the 100 meter run and 56.38 in the 400 meter run.
Hodge sits in second place in the CCC heptathlon with 2,622 points. She is currently 196 points out of first place, which is held by Tiana Thomas of College of Idaho.
Hodge claimed 835 points with a second place finish in the 100 meter hurdles, finishing with a time of 15.05. Hodge also finished second in the 200 meter run with a time of 26.32, collecting 769 points. She also finished fourth in the high jump by jumping 1.45 meters (4-9) and sixth in the shot put with a throw of 8.82 meters (28-11 ¼).
Day two of the CCC Multi-Event Championships begin tomorrow, Friday, April 24 at 9 a.m. at Hermiston High School with the Decathlon's 110 meter hurdles. The heptathlon starts at 9:15 a.m. with the long jump.
