Week Eleven - Nov. 5-12
We are approaching our last regular season game of the 2009 season, and it is a big one for our program. We will be facing Carroll College the #2 team out of Helena, Montana this game is one that a lot of us seniors have been waiting for our whole career's to be able to be put in this situation against this team and have our opportunity for the post season. It will be a great Saturday with senior day, the game, and the senior can food drive. We will have boxes set up at the game and around campus for non perishable food items that can be donated. We are doing this food drive for the less fortunate family's around the holiday season that is coming up. We would appreciate if people could make at least one donation somewhere around campus or at our game.

This week during practice we are having some fun with senior week, at the end of each practice we have been having challenges with the seniors vs. coaches. We are also looking forward to seeing everyone at the banquet Saturday night following Saturdays game. I would like to send out a thank you at this time for everyone that has supported, contributed, and has been a part of our football team this season from fans and family being at as many games as they can, the coaches wives ballooning players cars after big wins in Montana, President Davies family cookies for road trips, and everything else that goes on to make the program what it is.

Again we are looking forward to seeing everyone out at the game getting loud and supporting us!

Go Mounties!!

Week Ten - Oct. 29-Nov. 4
I can't believe that it is already the tenth week of our season, it is crazy how fast time travels once you get into the swing of playing games each week. Last weeks game was a hard one for us, but with the characteristics of our team this year i feel that we have corrected the mistakes and have flushed last week and are looking forward to traveling to Northern Montana this week to play the lights.

Each week that we have traveled this year we have stopped at a stadium on the way and we will continue that this week by stopping at the University of Montana. This is one of our longer trips of the year but it is nothing new that we haven't done before. I wanted to thank everyone that has been supporting us so far this year it means a lot to everyone involved in this years team and we are looking for your continued support! I believe that this weeks game will be on the radio so tune in and we will be at home next week for our home crowd! Happy Halloween to everyone!

Go Mounties!

Week Nine - Oct. 21-28
We are nearing the end of week four of school and approaching is our ninth game of the season. Last week we had a good homecoming game against Montana Western coming out victorious and compiling our conference record to 6-1. One thing that I have learned through my career here when playing Montana Western is to never count them out of a game regardless of how much they are down by.

This week we are going round two with Montana Tech out of Butte, Montana. When we played them earlier this season we won on the road up there in some unusual sunny weather for Butte. Montana Tech is currently in third place with a 4-3 record in conference play. As a Mountaineer team we are looking forward to another opportunity to be able to strap it up for another Saturday afternoon game! Hope to see everyone out at the game.

Go Mounties!

Week Eight - Oct. 13-20
After a cold road trip last week in Billings we came out on top with a final score of 43-36. This now brings our overall record to 5-2 and 5-1 in conference. It was a great win for our program especially being on the road and in the conditions with being down by 15 in the Fourth Quarter, this shows how our team is maturing and able to win games on the road.

This week is an exciting week for the football program, we get to play in front of the alumni's coming back into town for this weeks Homecoming game against Montana Western. We last played Western the third game of the season and came out on top. We will be looking forward to hosting them here this weekend and the chance to be able to play another home game after being on the road the last two weekends. Last years home game against Western was a exciting one coming down to the last seconds and with the Mountaineers coming out with a victory. We are looking forward to giving a great game to the Homecoming crowd.

This will be a fun weekend for all of the Mountaineers in Volleyball, Soccer, and Football. Looking forward to seeing everyone at all the Homecoming activities!

Go Mounties!

Week Seven - Oct. 5-12
Back on the road again this week as we start the second go around of our conference play. This week we are traveling to Billings, MT to take on Rocky Mountain where the game high temperature is predicted to be 29 degrees. We are going into the game in second place of the conference with a record of 4-1. Our last few road games we have had the opportunity to stop at the University of Montana for our Friday pre-game run through, since we are traveling to the other side of the state we will be stopping at their rivals Montana State University. After this week we will be back home for two games in a row. Last time we faced the Bears here at home the Mounties came out on top with a high scoring game of 58-50, this game was the second game of the season and now both teams have 4 more games under our belts so there is more game experience.

Next week will be a very fun and exciting Homecoming weekend against Montana Western. For all parents and people coming back for this weekend there will be a breakfast at Bud Jackson's Saturday morning before the game. Many of the friends and family of the football team already have been attending this but we are trying to get as many people there as we can along with some of the younger guys friends and family, so we are encouraging you to come out and support the football team. Coach Camp usually gets down there and gets to talk with everyone. Please RSVP through my dad Kevin at kdunn_downtown@bresnan.net

Go Mountaineers!

Week Six - Sept. 28-Oct. 4
We are coming off of a great win from last weekend against Montana Northern, playing the lights is always one of my favorite games to play in for personal reasons and especially when we come out on top. When going back and looking through the film from last weeks game there are things that we need to be better at as there is in every game but limiting those will give us the best opportunity to be successful each week to come. It was nice to play at home for the second time this year in front of the student body, thank you to those who came out to support us. Now it's back on the road for us to take on our next opponent Carroll College of Helena, MT.

The Saints have a good tradition in their football program and should make for a great game between the Mountaineers and the Saints. We will be leaving Thursday to head over to the University of Montana for fridays practice then on to Helena for Saturdays game. Be sure to follow our game online/radio on Saturday!

Go Mountaineers!

Week Five - Sept. 21-27
We are approaching the mid way point of our season after our game this week. Last weeks game ended in a success in Butte, Montana, a very good feeling winning two back to back road trips and especially the first time anybody on the team right now has won at Tech. Not only are we reaching the middle of the season but we are also starting school next Monday.

Today the Senior and Junior class’s helped the incoming freshman get moved into the dorms. While all the freshmen are getting settled in and starting up orientation, we are continuing to put in work this week in the film room, weight room, and practice field to be prepared for when the University of Montana Northern Lights comes to Community Stadium on Saturday for our 4th conference game of the season.

It will be nice to have our game at home this weekend as we have been on the road for the past two weeks and with school starting we have the chance to have some students come out and fill the stands for an exciting game on Saturday. Looking forward to seeing everyone out there!

Go Mountaineers

Week Four - Sept. 14-20
After last weeks travel to Dillon we came out on top with a good conference win and especially having our first win on the road in two seasons. A good sign for our team that is showing through are the things that we work from week one to week three are showing up on the field and I feel like we are making the improvements that are needed, still not everything is right quite yet, but thats why we have the week of practice and film study between each game.

This week we travel back to Butte, Montana where we stayed last week but this time on game day we will stay in town and take on Montana Tech Orediggers. Every time that we have played there in the last four years there has been snow and some pretty cold temperatures, hopefully with it being earlier this season we wont run into the snow flurries, but you never know in Montana and we will take the weather anyway as long as there is a game to play.

We will stop at the University of Montana again for our Friday run through, a cool experience that we have started this season with stopping at Reser Stadium and Washington Grizzly Stadium. When we stop at the stadiums it feels like our Fridays are very focused and we get done what is asked and needed.

We are looking forward to coming back home next week for everyone after we travel this week. Listen to the game this week on the radio/internet.

Go Mountaineers!!

Week Three - Sept. 7-13
After Saturdays game we brought our record to 1-1 with the victory at home. There was a lot of big plays in the game but one of them that stood out to me was taking our first kickoff return back for a touchdown, something that has not happened for the Mountaineers since 2005. It was great to see how many different players had great games for us. Joel Haran ran the ball very hard, something he told me that he has been waiting his three years to come out and do. Chris Ware had a great game and received recognition not only in the Frontier Conference but also National Offensive Player of the Week. It was a very fun and exciting home opener for us.

This week our opponent is the University of Montana-Western Bulldogs. We split with them last year winning at home and losing on the road, both games came down to last minute plays in the 4th quarters, so a big emphasis this week is finishing, we need to play through 60 minutes and come out on top. We will be leaving this Thursday to travel to Dillon, Montana one of our shorter bus rides of the year. On the way up we are planning on stopping at the University of Montana to get our usual Friday run through and then load back on the bus's to travel to Butte where we will stay and then game day travel 45 minutes to Dillon.

We are looking forward to this weeks opponent and another chance for us to be able and go out and play our way of playing Mountaineer Football.

Go Mounties!

Week Two - Aug. 31-Sept. 6

We just got back from our first road trip and first game of the season. On our way down on Friday we got the opportunity to stop and practice at Oregon States Reser Stadium. Our head coach is an alumni of OSU Football, we had a sharp mental practice and got the chance to roam around and check out the facilities. A great experience I think for this years team.

Although our game didn't turn out the way we had planned there were a lot of positives that we can take from it and also turn the negatives into positives by recognizing what we need to do and putting in the necessary work this week in practice so that we can have things ready to open conference play this week.

We have a great opportunity to open conference play this Saturday with Rocky Mountain College from Billings, Montana. As you can remember last year at home this was a very high scoring and exciting game with a score of 76 to 55, from a defensive point of view not looking for as many points this time. We are looking to have another exciting home opener! Everyone is focused and ready to have our first home game of the season. Looking forward to seeing everyone out there!

Go Mounties!

Week One - Aug. 23-30
I would like to start off by introducing myself, my name is Corey Dunn and I am one of the 15 Seniors on this years Mountaineer Football Team. As I am sitting here trying to figure out what to write as we are wrapping up our fall camp I can't believe that I just finished my 5th fall camp as a Mountaineer. Out of the 5 that I have been a part of this one will always be one to remember because of all the hard work, dedication, effort, and time that we as players and coaches have put in to make sure that we have the best chance possible at the upcoming season. There is a reason why our head coach has the last name of Camp, he knows how to run a very structured and hard working camp. Through the hard work of the coaches and players there comes rewards, we got one a little bit early after a couple of double days and some high intensity practices that didn't involve anything to do with football other than a reward for the work we had been doing and that was loading up the school bus's and taking a trip over to Pendleton to enjoy a BBQ and a day in the sun at the water park.

This fall camp we started some traditions within our team that are proving to be very meaningful and something for us to strive for. The first one is our “Hard Hat Award” this goes out to a player each week who has the mentality of bringing his hard hat day in and day out to practice, meetings, school work and everything else incorporated in our days. As this was being introduced to the team you could feel the emotion behind this award and what this hard hat means and stands for. Another tradition started by the senior class was some goals that we wanted to set for the team and the words that best describes them all is “Leaving a Legacy”. Now each side of the ball has something that they stand for on a daily basis, for the Offense it is putting a coin in the jar, and Defensively is a lunch pail mentality. All these traditions are something that this 2009 Football Team has a tremendous amount of pride and respect for and is something that will carry us throughout the season and through our lives.

As we break camp and are approaching the upcoming week we are mentally and physically turning our focus to our first opponent to open up our season. This opponent is Southern Oregon University, obviously our in state rivalry game and also the team that we ended our schedule with last season. This will be the second time in the last 4 years that we will visit Ashland to take on the Raiders. As a team representing Eastern Oregon University we are anxious and ready to kick off the '09 season and hope you are ready to join us!
